For me, this past weekend was all about seeing new things with an old friend. From the newest part of the Highline, to the farthest point of Central Park, to Nutella hot chocolate, to even my first visit to Harlem’s Dinosaur BBQ, we explored some of the great things the city has to offer.
For my childhood best friend visiting from Florida, not only was this all new to her, but the style of NYC was something she had to adjust to. While Janine refused to give up her addiction to sandals, she reluctantly wore a jacket—which I scored for just $30 and has become her cold weather friend—upon realizing it was more than 20 degrees cooler up here.
I can’t fault her. I too was in denial of jacket weather and was kind of obsessed with my new faux fur vest to keep me warm. It’s one of those pieces—like a classic trench–that can be thrown over just about any outfit to look put together and prepared for the changing weather.
As they say, make new friends but keep the old; one is silver and the other’s gold.
